With Recent Acquisition, NY Entrepreneurs Carry On “Birthing of Giants” Tradition

October 10, 2016

New York, NY – Originally incubated in the hallways of M.I.T. In 1996, with the partnership of Inc. Magazine, Birthing of Giants, an educational program for owners of growing companies, has had several of the leading entrepreneurs of its day pass through its doors. This month, The Business Owners Council (, a learning community for the owners of fast-growing companies–also incubated by Inc. Magazine–completed a transaction to acquire the brand in order to re-launch the legendary entrepreneurs masterclass program. Norm Brodsky, a New York-area entrepreneur and long-time columnist for Inc. Magazine, and Lewis Schiff, founder of The Business Owners Council and author of the best-seller, Business Brilliant, beta tested a data-driven curriculum with New York area entrepreneurs over two years before re-launching as The Birthing of Giants Fellowship Program.

“The results of our beta test were outstanding,” says Brodsky. “Just like giants are amplified humans, Birthing of Giants amplifies what’s best about entrepreneurs, which allows them to accelerate their business’ progress. The goal for Birthing of Giants participants is simple: make this year the best year in the life of your company.”

“To do that,” Schiff continues, “the program has been designed around four areas that most influence business success: leadership and management, revenue and sales, team and culture, and, ultimately, enterprise value. By leveraging the best management practices of successful business owners, discovering how the fastest growing companies use technology to maximize revenue, scaling culture and attracting top talent through a purpose-driven business mission, and adopting the strategic planning process shared by top businesses, entrepreneurs will leave with a 12 to 36 month roadmap that delivers tons of value to the company.”

The first class of Birthing of Giants Fellows will launch in January 2017 at the prestigious Duke University Executive Education Conference Center in Durham, North Carolina. Over the course of this week-long session, entrepreneurs who are selected for The Fellowship Program will live, eat, and learn together. Participants will be led by the program’s Board of Experts and guest mentors from academia and thought-leadership.

Participants will be entrepreneurs who distinguish themselves in their businesses, industries and communities, and will own businesses between $2 million and $250 million —different sessions will be grouped by different revenue levels. To be considered for this program, you must apply. Upon acceptance and completion of the program, you will be a Birthing of Giants Fellow for life and invited to alumni network conferences and events. High achieving graduates will be invited to participate in an advanced accelerator program.
